Wettest May on Record

Hello CBLD Family!

The sun is finally out and shining today! However, let's not forget this has been the wettest May on record, with over 8 inches of rainfall!

As I drove through a neighboring community this week (picture below), I couldn't help but notice the irrigation system running, while it was raining outside. Not only is this a waste of money and water, it also compromises the health and well being of the plants.

Plants need oxygen to survive and often times over watering (or drowning the plants) is more detrimental than under watering. Now is the time to get your irrigation systems activated and to have the necessary repairs made for the upcoming season, but then have your vendor leave the system off for the time being, until it is needed. For mature and established gardens that may not be until early June, for newer, just installed gardens, it could be as early as next week or late as early June. Protect your investment by not over watering your plants and let mother nature do the work! If you have any questions or concerns about your current watering schedules please let me know.

Thank you!
