The design of this public garden is part of a series of amenities planned for the Midway Plaisance, the corridor that links Jackson and Washington Parks in Chicago.
The overall plan is by Site Design Group, while our role was as the planting designers and horticultural consultants for the central garden space. The theme of the space was ‘Winter Garden’, so we strategically selected plants that had winter interest beyond the usual evergreen foliage, such as brilliant red berries, amber seed heads, and bold branching patterns. Collectively combined, they create a constantly changing four season kaleidoscope of texture, color and form.
